Uranus

Hello guys, and welcome to a new post. Today we will talk about Uranus, the PLANET, if you question yourself ;))

Uranus is the third largest planet. It is pale blue, colour that comes from the methane gas in its atmosphere, and has a small ring system — doesn’t compare to Saturn’s one 🙂 . Cool thing is that Uranus’ axis is tilted at 98 degrees, so that it moves along its orbital patch on the side, like a ball, but in the other direction. It was first discovered in 1781 by William Herschel, but the 1986 flyby of the Voyager 2 spacecraft, gave us a better understanding about the planet.

It has a solid core of rock and metal, a liquid layer of water, methane and ammonia, and an atmosphere composed of mainly hydrogen (82%) and Helium (15%).  It’s atmosphere smells like rotten eggs due to the methane, so I don’t recommand going there. Also, the temperaures there can get prety low, I mean extremeley low, -218 C or -370 F, but don’t worry! You can always go up in the sky, where you can fell on your skin (I mean space suit) over 500 C or 932 F. Have a nice trip! 😉

Uranus has 27 natural satellites, the biggest are Titania, Oberon, Umbriel, Ariel, Miranda, named the Shakespearian characters.

Out there one year is 84 times longer, but a day is shorter, only 17.2 hours.
